The probability of an event ranges from 0 to 1. For independent events,
P(A and B)=P(A)×P(B)P(A \text{ and } B) = P(A) \times P(B)
. If two dice are rolled, the chance both show six is
16×16=136\frac{1}{6} \times \frac{1}{6} = \frac{1}{36}
. For mutually exclusive events, add instead:
P(A or B)=P(A)+P(B)P(A \text{ or } B) = P(A) + P(B)
.
